This desktop study on ecosystem services forms part of a larger study on the Elephant Marsh, ‘Climate Resilient Livelihoods and Sustainable Natural Resources Management in the Elephant Marsh.
This project aims to generate a thorough understanding of the ecological function of the Elephant Marsh, incorporating hydro-morphology, ecosystem services, biodiversity, and local livelihoods to inform a management plan for the marsh; and to prepare an application for Ramsar status as a wetland of international importance.
The assignment also assesses the feasibility of designating the marsh as a community-managed protected area.
The report can be accessed here.
