Global Biodiversity Framework Early Action Support Project-Review of the NBSAP (2015-2025)
Malawi has benefitted from the Global Biodiversity Framework Early Action Support (GBF-EAS) Project to begin the process of aligning the current NBSAP (2015-2025) to the Kunming-Montreal-Global Biodiversity Framework (KM-GBF). This Project is a government led effort funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) to fast track readiness and early actions to implement the KM-GBF adopted at COP 15 of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
The Project will be implemented within four components; 1)Alignment of NBSAPs and/or national biodiversity targets with the GBF; 2) Assessment of national monitoring systems
and development of monitoring action plans; 3) Policy and institutional alignment and review
for achieving coherence with the GBF; and 4) Biodiversity finance-related activities.
Malawi launched the process of reviewing the NBSAP on 10th November 2023 by inviting a multi-sectoral grouping to engage in an consultative process to map the way forward in implementing the project.
